These books are written to help improve improvising skills. They offer the opportunity to practice soloing with a band at your convenience witha collection of solos written over a series ofdifferent chord changes and styles such as straight-ahead jazz, funk, swing, R&B, Latin, blues and more. Giving more than just chord scales, each book gives an actual idea to base your solos around. Each track on the CD has ashort version to match the length of the transcribed solo (as played by Eric) and a long version (without the solo) to improvise over. In this way you can study Eric's solos and pick and choose the licks you prefer to hepbuildyour own solo. This approach takes the recorded play-along concept one step further. Eric Marienthal has played on literally hundreds of records, TV shows, and films. Ericattended the Berkelee College of Music and recently was given the 1995 Distinguished Alumnus Award. He has recorded six solo albums for Polygram Records. Eric has performed concerts and given master classes in over fifty countriesthroughout the world. In addition to the Chick Corea Elektric Band, Eric has recorded and performed with Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Johny Mathis, Liza Minelli, David Benoit, TheRippingtons, Patti Austin and many more.
